If I Had A Gun

去年聽了弟弟，今年輪到哥哥的場子了。雖然Liam把團員都帶走了，但終究Noel才是最重要的靈魂人物，畢竟絕大多數紅遍全世界的曲子都是他創作的，Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds首張大碟的銷售表現也壓過了Beady Eye登上全英排行冠軍的位置，自己也入圍今年Brit Awards的最佳歌手獎項，演唱會在歐洲最大的室內場地O2 Arena又早早售罄，可以想見他老兄當然是樂得很，整天拿來猛虧老弟。

兩兄弟狂妄與愛挑釁的性格不相上下，以往在台上放炮的角色主唱Liam扮演得比較多，Noel通常是冷不防嗆聲或嘲諷個兩句，大家都清楚老哥上節目受訪問話比老弟還多，拆夥後看他一個人發揮自我感覺良好的戲謔風格撐起氣氛倒也不覺意外，有趣的是有些場面歌迷分成兩派一邊歡呼一邊猛噓，例如作為曼城球迷的他挖苦曼聯的時候，我在上層看台也還是扯著嗓子大聲喝倒采，不可否認的是，和從前Oasis的大型演唱一樣，從頭到尾沒有冷場。

Noel加上Oasis時期的製作人Dave Sardy，High Flying Birds的旋律和Beady Eye相較更有Oasis的延續性，很多人都能在一些前奏或曲調走向嗅到熟悉的氣息，氣勢磅礡的”Everybody’s on the Run”是一貫開頭曲的風格，結尾沉澱一點準備迎接下來的曲目，”The Death of You and Me”活脫脫地衍生自”The Importance of being Idle”，是好是壞見仁見智，至少歌迷很容易跟隨旋律，而”If I Had A Gun”無疑就是典型Noel式情歌，相信大多聽眾第一首琅琅上口的就是此曲。單飛的Noel同時帶進更多銅管、弦樂、唱團等編制，層次亦更見分明，其實Noel以前就透露喜歡此類樂風的跡象，Oasis專輯裡他主唱的歌曲這些東西出現的機會總是多過Liam演唱的時候，此外，”Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks”是久違具有抗爭歌曲味道的創作，也算是一個未來可以期待發展的方向。
